Daniel Cook, host

An excellent and engaging introduction to the symphony orchestra for young students! Daniel Cook is your guide as he explores the families of instruments in the orchestra. He sneaks into the STRING section , winds his way into the WOODWINDS , busts into the BRASS section and pops in to say hello to the PERCUSSION. The always-inquisitive Daniel will interview players as they demonstrate their instruments and ask Maestro Brott just what it is that a conductor does! Your students will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the orchestra on stage and perform the toy symphony and one very lucky student will get to conduct the orchestra! Sing along, clap along and join Boris, Daniel Cook and the NAO for this symphonic showstopper!

A powerful cultural experience for all students and an excellent opportunity to complement grade 5 & 6 Aboriginal Studies Units. The Inuit and Canada’s Far North have been a rich source of inspiration in music, art and sculpture in Canada and around the world. Today, we are thrilled to welcome three of Canada’s most prominent Inuit performers, who originally hail from Nunavut. We’ll hear music based on animal sounds, experience the heartstopping power of Aboriginal drum dancing and the mysterious, ethereal phenomenon that is throat singing. Featuring slides and film, this program explores the importance of maintaining Aboriginal culture and tradition amid the concerns of the past and challenges of the future. This is one of Brott Music Education’s most critically acclaimed and popular concerts of all time, so book now!
